Job Overview:
The Senior Physical Therapist is accountable for the management of rehabilitation services for members, operating under the guidance of the Rehabilitation Manager.

This role emphasizes adherence to compliance standards and the Principles of Responsibility, ensuring the confidentiality of sensitive information, safeguarding organizational assets, and upholding ethical practices. It is essential to report any non-compliance and to follow all relevant laws, regulations, and organizational policies.

Regional leaders play a critical role in the communication and enforcement of compliance protocols within their departments.

In addition to meeting technical requirements, this position requires a commitment to demonstrating exemplary service behaviors and principles aligned with the Kaiser Permanente Service Quality Credo and the organization's mission, as well as specific departmental initiatives.

The Senior Physical Therapist must exhibit the necessary knowledge, skills, and behaviors to deliver outstanding and culturally sensitive service to colleagues, members, and external partners.


Key Responsibilities:
+ Undertakes all duties as outlined in the Physical Therapist II position. + Delivers direct patient care through various modalities, including in-person, telephonic, and video consultations. + Provides mentorship and guidance to Physical Therapy staff in both general practice and specialized areas. + Facilitates educational opportunities for physical therapists through both formal and informal training in their specialty at local and regional levels. + Contributes to the development and execution of innovative clinical practice models aimed at enhancing member care. + Serves as a consultant for staff regarding member management within their specialty, supporting ongoing professional development. + Evaluates staff competencies and identifies educational and training needs in their area of expertise. + Delivers advanced member care, particularly for those with complex conditions related to their specialty. + Assumes a leadership role to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of Physical Therapy services. + Provides clinical oversight to staff in the capacity of a senior therapist. + Manages a high volume of members, including those with intricate needs in their specialty area. + Assists the Lead Therapist/Rehabilitation Manager as required and provides coverage in their absence. + Offers support in other facilities within the region as necessary. + Performs additional related duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:
Experience + A minimum of five (5) years of full-time practice in the relevant specialty area is required.

Education + Graduation from an accredited physical therapy program with a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree in physical therapy or an equivalent foreign qualification is required.

+ Completion of a postgraduate degree from an accredited institution with a focus on a specialty relevant to Physical Therapy.

Entry-level or transitional degrees are not acceptable, or completion of an APTA or AAOMPT approved fellowship/residency, or certification from the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) in a specialty area (OCS, NCS, SCS, etc.), or a relevant certification pertinent to Kaiser Permanente.

License, Certification, Registration + This position requires credentials from multiple states. Credentials from the primary work state must be obtained prior to hire. Additional credentials from secondary states are required post-hire. + Physical Therapist License (Maryland) within 6 months of hire + Physical Therapist License (Virginia) within 6 months of hire + Physical Therapist License (District of Columbia) within 6 months of hire + Physical Therapy Direct Access Certification (Virginia) within 6 months of hire + PECOS Enrollment within 1 month of hire + Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association +

National Provider Identifier Additional Requirements:
+ The role involves working with a Permanente member population and is clinically focused. + Demonstrates leadership and problem-solving capabilities within the clinic and for our members. + Exhibits professional practice behaviors consistent with established criteria. + Takes a leadership role in project management, education, clinical instruction for students, and committee participation. + Shows evidence of involvement in staff development and mentoring.

Preferred Qualifications:
+ Engages in teaching physical therapy-related health education classes. + Actively participates in the supervision and orientation of volunteers within the Physical Therapy Department. + Involves in community outreach and member education at least twice a year, which may include teaching health education classes, participating in medical center events, and attending community health fairs. + Preferred knowledge or practice in at least 75% of PT clinical competencies.
