Position Overview:
The Physical Therapist is accountable for managing the rehabilitation needs of members under the guidance of the Rehabilitation Manager.

This role emphasizes adherence to compliance standards and the Principles of Responsibility as outlined in Kaiser Permanente's Code of Conduct, ensuring the confidentiality of sensitive information, safeguarding organizational assets, and acting with integrity. It is essential to report any non-compliance and to follow all relevant federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Kaiser Permanente's policies and procedures.

Regional leaders play a crucial role in the communication, implementation, and oversight of compliance policies within their departments.

In addition to meeting specific technical requirements, this position requires a commitment to demonstrating exemplary service behaviors and principles as defined by the Kaiser Permanente Service Quality Credo and the KP Mission, alongside departmental and organizational initiatives.

The Physical Therapist must consistently exhibit the knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors necessary to deliver exceptional and culturally competent service to members, their families, and other stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities:
+ Conduct assessments to evaluate members' impairments, functional limitations, and barriers to participation, ensuring appropriate treatment through various testing methods. + Develop individualized therapy programs, set treatment objectives, and implement interventions aimed at enhancing members' functional capabilities and minimizing disabilities using diverse therapeutic modalities. + Deliver direct patient care through multiple formats, including in-person, telephonic, and video consultations. + Collaborate with members, families, and caregivers to establish treatment goals and secure informed consent as needed. + Provide comprehensive treatment plans and home exercise instructions to members and their support systems. + Adjust treatment plans and objectives based on ongoing assessments of member progress. + Regularly evaluate clinical indicators to assess treatment effectiveness and the need for modifications. + Facilitate the discharge process for members who have achieved maximum therapeutic benefit. + Maintain accurate and timely documentation of member care and treatment progress. + Supervise the activities of Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs) in accordance with jurisdictional requirements. + Ensure compliance with documentation standards set by the organization and regulatory bodies. + Foster a safe working environment while upholding clinical competency and ethical standards as per APTA guidelines. + Manage departmental supplies and equipment, ensuring they are maintained in a clean and functional state. + Guide support personnel in routine procedures as required. + Cultivate respectful and cooperative relationships with members and colleagues. + Provide triage services by offering advice and care through various communication methods. + Contribute to the development of new classes, services, and educational materials in collaboration with senior therapists and management. + Offer coverage in other facilities within the region as necessary. + Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Experience + A minimum of one (1) year of full-time practice as a licensed Physical Therapist in a clinical environment is required.

Education + Must be a graduate of an accredited physical therapy program with a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree, or possess a foreign-trained equivalent.

License, Certification, Registration + Credentials from multiple states are required, with primary state credentials needed prior to hire. Additional credentials from secondary states must be obtained post-hire. + Physical Therapist License (Virginia) within 6 months of hire + Physical Therapy Direct Access Certification (Virginia) within 6 months of hire + Physical Therapist License (District of Columbia) within 6 months of hire + Physical Therapist License (Maryland) within 6 months of hire + PECOS Enrollment within 1 month of hire + Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association +

Additional Requirements:
+ Actively pursuing continuing education or clinical experiences to enhance clinical expertise, such as: + Postgraduate degree with a specialty focus; + Fellowship or certification in a relevant clinical area; + Demonstrated leadership and problem-solving abilities in clinical settings. + Evidence of participation in staff development and mentoring activities.

Preferred Qualifications:
+ Experience in teaching health education classes related to physical therapy. + Involvement in the supervision and orientation of volunteers within the department. + Participation in community outreach and member education initiatives at least twice a year, including health education classes and community health events. + Proficiency in at least 50% of physical therapy clinical competencies.
