Job Overview:
The Senior Physical Therapist is accountable for overseeing the management of physical therapy services for members, working under the guidance of the Rehabilitation Manager.

This role is essential in upholding compliance with the Principles of Responsibility (Kaiser Permanente's Code of Conduct) by ensuring the confidentiality of sensitive information, safeguarding the organization's assets, acting with integrity, reporting any non-compliance, and adhering to relevant federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Kaiser Permanente's policies and procedures.

Regional leaders play a crucial role in the communication, implementation, enforcement, monitoring, and oversight of compliance policies and practices within their departments.

In addition to fulfilling defined technical requirements, this position requires a consistent demonstration of service behaviors and principles outlined by the Kaiser Permanente Service Quality Credo, the KP Mission, and specific departmental or organizational initiatives.

The Senior Physical Therapist is also responsible for exhibiting the knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors necessary to deliver exceptional and culturally sensitive service to colleagues, members, and external partners.


Key Responsibilities:
+ Takes on all duties as outlined in the Physical Therapist II job description. + Delivers direct patient care through various modalities, including in-person, telephonic, and/or video consultations. + Provides mentorship and guidance to Physical Therapy staff in general practice and their specialized areas. + Conducts educational sessions for physical therapists through both formal and informal channels, focusing on their specialty at local and regional levels. + Assists in creating and implementing innovative clinical practice models for member care that require specialized expertise. + Serves as a consultant for staff members in their specialty area, aiding in the management of complex cases and facilitating ongoing professional development. + Evaluates staff competencies, clinical judgment, and educational needs within their specialty. + Provides advanced member care, particularly for those with intricate issues related to their specialty. + Assumes a leadership role to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of Physical Therapy services. + Offers clinical direction to staff as a senior team member. + Manages a high volume of members, including those with complex needs in their specialty area. + Supports the Lead Therapist/Rehabilitation Manager as needed and provides coverage during their absence. + Performs additional related duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:
Experience + A minimum of five (5) years of full-time practice experience in the relevant specialty area is required.

Education + Must be a graduate of an accredited physical therapy program with a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree and certification in physical therapy or an equivalent foreign-trained qualification.

+ Completion of a postgraduate degree from an accredited institution with a specialty focus, such as an advanced practice master's or doctoral degree relevant to Physical Therapy.

Entry-level or transition degrees are not acceptable, or completion of an APTA or AAOMPT approved fellowship/residency, or certification from the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) in a specialty area (OCS, NCS, SCS, etc.), or obtaining a certification pertinent to Kaiser Permanente.

License, Certification, Registration + This position requires credentials from multiple states. Credentials from the primary work state must be obtained prior to hire. Additional credentials from secondary states are required post-hire. + Physical Therapist License (Maryland) within 6 months of hire + Physical Therapist License (Virginia) within 6 months of hire + Physical Therapist License (District of Columbia) within 6 months of hire + Physical Therapy Direct Access Certification (Virginia) within 6 months of hire + PECOS Enrollment within 1 month of hire + Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association +

National Provider Identifier Additional Requirements:
+ Must demonstrate leadership skills and problem-solving abilities in clinical settings and with members. + Must exhibit professional practice behaviors. + Must show leadership in project management, teaching, clinical instruction for students, and committee involvement. + Evidence of participation in staff development and mentoring is required.

Preferred Qualifications:
+ Experience in teaching physical therapy-related health education classes. + Active involvement in supervising and orienting volunteers within the Physical Therapy Department. + Participation in community outreach and member education at least twice a year, which may include teaching health education classes, participating in medical center events, and attending community health fairs. + Knowledge of or practice in at least 75% of PT clinical competencies is preferred.
