Position Title: Senior Vice President of Advancement

Location: Remote

Profile:
The Senior Vice President of Advancement is tasked with spearheading the leadership and development of a comprehensive fundraising program that aligns with the institution's aspirations as a leading university.

This executive will oversee a department dedicated to major gifts, planned giving, alumni relations, and advancement services, ensuring the implementation of best practices to cultivate a premier Advancement team capable of engaging and inspiring donors across various levels.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct all Advancement initiatives to surpass annual and campaign objectives while enhancing alumni engagement;
  • Provide innovative strategies for volunteer leadership to broaden support and attract new prospects;
  • Collaborate closely with the University President and Board of Trustees to effectively engage with donors and prospects;
  • Manage a targeted portfolio of significant donors and prospects personally;
  • Represent the institution through personal interactions and events, fostering a culture of philanthropy;
  • Ensure the development of effective systems and processes to monitor and guide fundraising outcomes;
  • Assess program areas to ensure compliance with industry standards and implement necessary changes.

Leadership:
  • Play a pivotal role as a member of the University Cabinet;
  • Actively participate in university-wide activities and maintain a visible presence within the community;
  • Lead and motivate a team of 10, including 4 direct reports;
  • Establish metrics and strategies to measure progress towards goals and evaluate overall performance;
  • Oversee donor stewardship activities to ensure appropriate recognition and communication of philanthropic impact;
  • Guide teams in developing effective strategies, achieving goals, and strengthening the donor pipeline.

Qualifications:
  • Proven fundraising leadership experience in a similar role, preferably within higher education;
  • A master's degree is required;
  • Exceptional leadership and communication abilities;
  • Commitment to the values of Catholic higher education and the liberal arts;
  • Experience managing teams and multiple projects with a collaborative approach;
  • Thorough understanding of best practices in advancement services and fundraising;
  • Experience working with academic leaders to develop fundraising goals;
  • Ability to cultivate relationships with established and prospective donors;
  • Strong track record in planning and executing successful fundraising initiatives.
