Position Overview: As a Sales Compensation Accounting Lead within the Global Accounting division, you will be instrumental in overseeing essential accounting functions in a vibrant and fast-evolving setting. Salesforce seeks professionals with a proven track record in team leadership, scrutinizing month-end closing journal entries, executing control measures, and ensuring compliance with SOX regulations. Your role will also involve enhancing processes and systems, documenting accounting methodologies, and preparing schedules to facilitate monthly and quarterly reviews, annual audits, and the preparation of financial documents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize your expertise in ASC 606 (IFRS 15) to manage accounting for commission disbursements, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of Salesforce's sales compensation structures and incentive plans.
  • Engage collaboratively with members of the Sales Compensation and Finance & Strategy teams.
  • Oversee month-end closing activities by evaluating journal entries, account reconciliations, and conducting variance analyses.
  • Guarantee adherence to US GAAP standards, SOX controls, and documentation protocols.
  • Lead the preparation of schedules that support the financial reporting process for 10Q and 10K filings.
  • Work closely with internal and external audit teams to facilitate audits by providing necessary documentation and process insights.
  • Identify and implement ongoing improvements to accounting processes, including data reconciliation, reporting, and analytical functions.
  • Manage a diverse team across various locations to ensure tasks are completed accurately and within designated timelines.
  • Support team development through mentorship, education, and review of the work produced by accounting team members.
  • Drive special projects to successful completion.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in accounting, including public accounting experience (ideal candidates will have both accounting firm and corporate backgrounds).
  • CPA certification (or local equivalent) is required.
  • A degree or equivalent relevant experience is necessary, with evaluations based on the Values & Behaviors for the role.
  • Previous management experience in an accounting capacity.
  • Proficiency with large ERP systems such as Workday Finance or Oracle (experience with Workday Accounting Center is advantageous).
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including complex formulas and VLOOKUP, with the ability to handle large datasets.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and technical accounting principles.
  • Familiarity with Sarbanes-Oxley regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional and remote teams.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working with a Big 4 audit firm.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities.
  • Capacity to organize and prioritize tasks effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Analytical thinking skills to evaluate new situations, draw valid conclusions, and present information effectively to management.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across various levels and functions within an organization.
  • Experience with accounting for costs associated with contract acquisition (ASC 340-40, Contracts with Customers) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Tableau is beneficial.
