KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Skill in working effectively with a diverse student body, including those with special needs
  • Capacity to uphold order and discipline within educational settings
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
  • Preferred: Associate's Degree (with a focus on mathematics, reading, writing, and subject knowledge)
  • Completion of a twenty-four hour OCS ETTP course within the first year of employment
  • High School Diploma required; candidates with a diploma must be willing to enroll in an AA Degree program
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 months

SALARY: Pay Grade 53

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Oversees student behavior and adherence to school policies in various environments, including cafeterias, playgrounds, hallways, and other communal areas.
  2. Provides supervision for students arriving early or departing late due to transportation arrangements.
  3. Supports the implementation of the school safety plan.
  4. Assists in conducting school safety drills.
  5. Implements prepared lesson plans as necessary in the absence of the regular instructor.
  6. Maintains discipline and order in classrooms and group settings, fostering a safe and positive atmosphere for all students and staff.
  7. Adheres to established routines and procedures of the school and classroom.
  8. Encourages proper use and care of school facilities.
  9. Addresses minor student conflicts and seeks administrative assistance for serious incidents.
  10. Reports all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and disciplinary issues to the appropriate authority promptly.
  11. Communicates any unusual occurrences to the principal or designated authority immediately.
  12. Maintains confidentiality regarding student information.
  13. Models and promotes ethical and appropriate behavior.
  14. Complies with all rules, regulations, policies, and administrative guidelines set forth by the school and district.
  15. Remains on-site during the entire school day unless excused by the principal or designated authority.
  16. Performs additional related duties as assigned by school administrators.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to engage in physical activities, including standing, pushing, pulling, bending, sitting, and walking in various educational settings.
  • Capacity to stand for extended periods, exceeding six hours, and to sit or walk for prolonged durations.
  • Ability to visually, auditorily, and physically monitor student performance and behavior.
  • Capability to lift 15-25 pounds routinely and more as necessary.
  • Ability to work in a noisy, active environment with occasional loud sounds.
  • Capacity to maintain composure in challenging situations.
  • Ability to physically restrain students if necessary to ensure safety.
  • Ability to exert up to 25 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Ability to assist in the evacuation of students during emergencies or drills.
