Position Overview:

The Senior Project Manager/Estimator (PM/E) plays a crucial role within the Technologies Division, overseeing the estimation and management of various technology-related projects, including telecommunications, access control, distributed antenna systems (DAS), and audio/visual installations. Daily responsibilities encompass conducting thorough research, sourcing project materials, supporting team members during project execution, scheduling, and maintaining project documentation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze project plans, specifications, and bid documents to determine project requirements and formulate bid proposals.
  • Prepare comprehensive bid documents, including detailed scope letters for each project.
  • Identify potential issues and conflicts within bid documents.
  • Develop strategies to enhance bid competitiveness.
  • Review quotes to ensure compliance with requests and accuracy.
  • Calculate construction costs based on detailed document evaluations.
  • Assess change orders and communicate pricing justifications to clients.
  • Generate monthly progress billings, including schedules of values and job cost reviews.
  • Foster strong relationships with clients to ensure satisfaction and future business opportunities.
  • Collaborate with management and field leadership for effective manpower coordination.
  • Oversee the seamless execution of multiple projects from initiation to completion.
  • Collect and analyze project data to establish objectives.
  • Communicate project plan changes to team members promptly.
  • Conduct quality reviews to ensure adherence to industry best practices.
  • Evaluate projects for value engineering opportunities, considering specific job conditions.
  • Proactively identify potential challenges and devise effective solutions.
  • Request material and equipment quotes from suppliers.
  • Maintain positive relationships with vendors and clients.
  • Prepare budget estimates.
  • Report on Work in Progress (WIP) during monthly meetings with senior management.
  • Keep the Technologies Division Manager informed about bid progress.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, building science, or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in estimating or project management within low voltage electrical contracting or a similar field.
  • Current RCDD Certification is preferred.
  • Proficient knowledge of various electrical materials and installation methods.
  • Exceptional communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic work environment.
Working Conditions:

This position is primarily office-based, with typical working hours from Monday to Friday during standard business hours. However, extended hours may be required as project deadlines approach. Fieldwork may necessitate occasional travel and overnight stays.

While performing job duties, the PM/E may encounter fumes, airborne particles, and mechanical equipment. Exposure to varying conditions at construction sites, including weather and noise, is also possible.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands for this role include the ability to sit, climb, balance, and perform various physical activities. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
