Your Role:

The MEP Project Manager is responsible for ensuring quality control in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design, bidding, and construction processes for Clayco projects. This includes creating MEP scope documents, developing bid packages early in the project lifecycle, and negotiating with subcontractors. The role also involves leading document reviews for the design team and clients, addressing scope modifications during construction, and serving as a liaison between the original and field scopes. Additionally, the position requires on-site supervision and coordination of subcontractors for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and elevator systems, ensuring successful project completion within time and budget constraints while maintaining quality and adherence to contracts and schedules.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and coordinate MEP systems interrelationships, construction sequencing, and project timelines.
  • Facilitate resolution of issues that may arise between MEP subcontractors during construction.
  • Assess design challenges related to MEP and propose alternative solutions.
  • Assist in the review and acceptance of MEP submittals.
  • Document and update all MEP changes and as-built information on field drawings.
  • Support scope review, budgeting, and justification for MEP change orders.
  • Participate in the Quality Control process for MEP installations.
  • Collaborate with the project management team to oversee MEP subcontractor activities.
  • Manage coordination and administration of MEP-related materials, systems, and shop drawing submissions.
  • Act as a liaison with consulting MEP engineers, inspectors, and relevant personnel.
  • Ensure MEP subcontractors provide and comply with necessary quality documentation and records.
  • Guarantee adherence to project safety regulations by MEP subcontractors.
  • Assist in the testing and commissioning of MEP equipment.
  • Be open to travel for project needs.

Qualifications:

  • 5-8 years of experience in mechanical/electrical commissioning or related fields.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience or certification in commissioning from ASHRAE or BCA (University of Wisconsin Extension).
  • Familiarity with plumbing and fire protection commissioning requirements through experience and training.
  • Understanding of electrical systems and knowledge of NEC for field reviews and commissioning/testing requirements.
  • Strong background in control systems, BACNet, Tridium networks, and functional testing procedures.
  • Knowledge of air and water testing, adjusting, and balancing protocols.
  • Expertise in fire alarm systems and their integration.
  • Ability to interpret architectural, structural, and civil documents to understand the integration of MEP systems.
  • Familiarity with various building codes including Plumbing, NFPA, Mechanical, and Life Safety.
  • Proficient with computers and relevant software applications in the M/E industry.
  • Comfortable using common field testing equipment such as infrared cameras and light meters.
