Your Role:

The MEP Project Manager is responsible for ensuring quality control over mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design, bidding, and construction processes for Clayco projects. This includes the creation of MEP scope documents, development of MEP bid packages during the initial phases, and conducting subcontractor negotiations. This position also entails reviewing documents and providing leadership to the design team and clients, addressing scope modifications during construction, and acting as a liaison between the original and field scopes. Additionally, the role involves on-site supervision and coordination of subcontractors in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and elevator systems, ensuring successful project completion within time and budget constraints while maintaining quality and adherence to contracts and schedules.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and manage interrelationships of MEP systems, construction sequencing, and project timelines.
  • Facilitate problem-solving among MEP subcontractors during the construction phase.
  • Identify and validate design issues related to MEP and propose alternative solutions.
  • Assist in the review and acceptance of MEP submittals.
  • Document and update all MEP changes and as-built information on field drawings.
  • Support scope review, budgeting, and justification for MEP change orders.
  • Participate in the quality control process for MEP installations.
  • Collaborate with the project management team to oversee MEP subcontractor activities.
  • Coordinate and manage MEP-related materials, systems, and shop drawing submissions.
  • Act as a liaison with consulting MEP engineers, inspectors, and relevant personnel.
  • Ensure MEP subcontractors provide and comply with necessary quality documentation and records.
  • Monitor compliance with project safety regulations by MEP subcontractors.
  • Assist in the testing and commissioning of MEP equipment.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally as required.

Qualifications:

  • 5-8 years of experience in mechanical/electrical commissioning or related fields.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience or certification in commissioning from ASHRAE or BCA (University of Wisconsin Extension).
  • Knowledge of plumbing and fire protection requirements through experience and training.
  • Understanding of electrical systems and familiarity with NEC for field reviews and commissioning.
  • Strong background in control systems, BACNet, Tridium networks, and functional testing procedures.
  • Familiarity with air and water testing, adjusting, and balancing protocols.
  • Solid knowledge of fire alarm systems and their integration.
  • Ability to interpret architectural, structural, and civil documents for MEP system integration.
  • Understanding of project specifications and documentation requirements.
  • Knowledge of common building codes, including plumbing, NFPA, mechanical, and life safety standards.
  • Proficient with computers and various industry applications.
  • Comfortable using field testing equipment such as infrared cameras and light meters.
