Position Overview

Project Delivery Partners is seeking a Lead Project Planner to oversee and guide a team of planners responsible for executing a significant CAPEX initiative within the BioPharma sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Reporting directly to the Project Controls Manager, the Lead Planner will collaborate with planning teams to provide essential, decision-making insights that ensure timely project delivery.
  • The role encompasses advanced planning, scheduling, progress tracking, and change management for either a major project or multiple smaller initiatives.
  • A comprehensive understanding of policies, methodologies, and procedures is essential, including advanced planning and scheduling techniques, risk analysis, and risk management.
  • The Lead Planner will offer expertise to the client project team to:
    • Ensure clear scope definition within the integrated schedule.
    • Establish realistic baselines.
    • Identify and manage potential risks.
    • Monitor, track, and report on project performance.
Main Duties
  • Possess extensive knowledge in project controls and time/schedule management, preferably within the Pharma/Biotech sectors.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in project scheduling tools such as MS Project and Primavera P6, along with Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Coordinate and organize diverse schedule inputs and performance data into a unified master schedule platform.
  • Implement project planning and scheduling strategies that reflect both company and contractor roles and responsibilities.
  • Facilitate the development and execution of project Work Breakdown Structures (WBS).
  • Conduct probabilistic analyses on integrated and contractor schedules.
  • Perform critical path and schedule risk analyses for the overall project.
  • Analyze deviations from the baseline schedule, identify bottlenecks, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Prepare integrated planning and scheduling contributions for monthly project reports and specific presentations.
  • Assess the overall schedule impact of any variances or change orders.
  • Develop resource plans for project phases, identifying peak demands and suggesting leveling strategies.
  • Ensure alignment and integration of schedule-related data from vendors, suppliers, and contractors with the overall Integrated Master Schedule.
  • Maintain the accuracy and completeness of schedules while providing independent advice on planning issues.
  • Balance multiple projects across various locations and contractors.
  • Exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills, fostering strong relationships with project teams.
  • Perform additional tasks as necessary to support successful project delivery.
Qualifications
  • 15+ years of experience in CAPEX projects with a focus on planning and scheduling, ideally in the Biotech or Pharmaceutical industries.
  • Significant experience in schedule setup, baselining, monitoring, and controlling large-scale projects across all EPC phases.
  • Comprehensive understanding of risk and change management principles.
  • Proven problem-solving abilities in cross-functional environments.
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel and familiarity with software systems including Primavera P6.
  • Ability to thrive in a high-performance, cross-functional organization with stringent timelines and ambitious goals.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
  • Qualified candidates must be available for on-site work; remote or hybrid arrangements are not applicable.
