Overview: The Civil Construction Supervisor is responsible for leading a team engaged in various construction tasks, focusing on the proficient use of hand tools and heavy machinery. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of framing layouts, concrete carpentry, and the installation of diverse concrete foundations and slabs, as well as conduit installation, trenching, and the development of aggregate roads and compounds. The Civil Construction Supervisor is tasked with training and guiding Crew Members in these essential skills while maintaining regular communication with the project manager regarding the progress of the project and crew performance. Upholding the core values of Sabre Industries, which include 'Client Service, Quality, and Safety,' is paramount to this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete all mandatory safety training provided by Sabre Industries.
  • Engage in all necessary technical training as required by the company.
  • Consistently promote and uphold safe work practices as outlined in the Sabre Safety Manual and other directives from Management.
  • Oversee, train, and direct civil construction activities effectively.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and care of Sabre equipment.
  • Exhibit strong organizational skills in all assigned tasks.
  • Utilize intermediate computer skills for various job functions.
  • Coordinate and communicate all job-related activities with Sabre Management and Crew Members.
  • Facilitate communication between Sabre Management, clients, and other personnel on-site.

Physical Requirements:

  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Pass pre-employment and random drug and alcohol tests.
  • Willingness to travel for extended periods.
  • Communicate fluently with all Sabre staff, suppliers, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Operate machinery such as backhoes, mini excavators, and skid steers competently.
  • Read and interpret blueprints accurately.
  • Engage in effective communication with the Project Manager and other Sabre employees.
  • Adhere to safe working procedures in compliance with OSHA regulations.
  • Demonstrate the ability to learn through various instructional methods and self-study.
  • Read and comprehend general job-related documents.
  • Possess a CDL license with Airbrake endorsement, highly preferred.
  • Previous experience in the construction industry is preferred.
  • Ability to bend, squat, and stoop frequently throughout the day.
  • Lift up to 80 lbs. as necessary.
  • Stand for extended periods, exceeding 60% of the workday.

Position Expectations:

  • Guide the crew to ensure all work aligns with Sabre and customer standards regarding scheduling and job specifications.
  • Maximize crew efficiency on critical job functions to enhance overall profitability.
  • Skillfully operate hand and power tools.
  • Efficiently operate trucks, trailers, and other equipment.
  • Lay out cell tower sites and electrical infrastructure accurately.
  • Install and wire telecommunications equipment, including breakers and terminations.
  • Conduct trenching and installation of fiber and conduit.
  • Pour concrete for pads, piers, pylons, and block wall foundations, including layout, forming, rebar placement, and finishing.
  • Set up and install pre-fabricated equipment buildings.
  • Install light industrial steel structures, such as H-frames and light posts.
