Position Overview:

The Cost Accounting Specialist plays a vital role within the Operations Accounting team, collaborating closely with leaders across the Operations spectrum (Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, etc.) to deliver precise financial reporting and strategic guidance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Developing and releasing new product cost structures
  • Calculating and monitoring overhead costs with regular reporting
  • Analyzing and reporting variances related to yield, production, and purchasing
  • Conducting Inventory Cycle Count Analysis
  • Performing inventory analysis and reporting
  • Managing the Precious Metals process
  • Conducting ROI Analysis and preparing CAPEX Requests
  • Maintaining account reconciliations and SOX Controls as assigned
  • Forecasting and budgeting for Operations Cost Centers, including expenses, capital expenditures, and staffing
  • Preparing month-end journal entries
  • Responding to requests from external auditors
  • Participating in cross-functional team projects, such as ERP implementations and acquisitions

Essential Competencies:
  • Strong understanding of ERP systems (SAP FI/CO preferred)
  • Ability to interpret and analyze bills of material
  • Capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and analytical skills
  • Experience with SAP SAC or Power BI is preferred
  • Ability to collaborate in a cross-functional team environment and engage with all organizational levels
  • Proven ability to work independently while managing priorities and meeting deadlines
  • Skill in identifying and implementing process enhancements
  • Strong business acumen
  • Willingness to travel occasionally

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 3 years in Cost Accounting
  • Relevant certification (CMA, CGMA, or CPA)
