Work Schedule:

Monday – Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm. This position is a contract role with a duration of 8+ months.

Compensation:
$2-28 per hour.

Position Overview:
As an Explosives Testing Specialist, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing samples from Class 1.3 explosives for analytical evaluation.
  • Conducting acceptance assessments of materials utilized in propellants and pyrotechnics, including size analysis, moisture content, thermal expansion, density, and equivalent weight.
  • Executing tests on samples of Class 1.3 explosives, focusing on tensile strength, density, heat output, and combustion rate.
  • Performing evaluations on small quantities of Class 1.1 or unidentified explosives.
  • Carrying out ignition hazard assessments, including impact, friction, spark, and heat tests.
  • Organizing experimental data and completing documentation for test reports.
  • Assisting Development Engineers with the assembly of devices.
  • Ensuring laboratory supplies are adequately stocked.
  • Maintaining daily logs and records of equipment usage.
  • Keeping equipment functional by adhering to operational guidelines, troubleshooting issues, maintaining inventory, performing preventive maintenance, and coordinating repairs.
  • Upholding a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
  • Participating in regular training on safety protocols and operational practices.

Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or a related field.
  • A minimum of 2 years of pertinent experience.
  • A work history that reflects mechanical aptitude and/or other relevant skills related to the outlined responsibilities.
  • Experience working on Department of Defense contracts involving explosives.
  • Capability to handle explosives under the appropriate regulatory permits.
