Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

The Facilities Technician is responsible for the upkeep and repair of the visitor center, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all guests. This role involves both hands-on maintenance tasks and coordination with external service providers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting painting and structural repairs to various materials within the Visitor Center.
  • Maintaining accurate records of repairs and equipment history.
  • Overseeing the work of external contractors and managing maintenance service agreements.
  • Performing visual inspections and operational tests on machinery and equipment, including café and retail areas.
  • Executing installation and repair tasks for electrical systems, including transformers and wiring.
  • Ensuring the physical integrity of the Visitor Center through regular maintenance.
  • Carrying out basic electrical and plumbing tasks as needed.
  • Possessing knowledge of fire and alarm systems for safety compliance.
  • Initiating purchase orders for necessary parts and equipment.
  • Managing the setup of seasonal decorations and large outdoor displays.
  • Collaborating with Visitor Center management on facility-related projects.

WORK SCHEDULE

The typical work hours are from 7 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Flexibility may be required for contractor work that occurs outside of regular hours, including potential weekend shifts.

WORKPLACE EXPECTATIONS

All employees are expected to maintain a clean and safe work environment. Regular attendance is crucial for the success of this role. The ability to follow directions, work collaboratively, and focus on detail is essential.

SUPERVISORY ROLE

This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Three to five years of relevant experience or training.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret safety guidelines, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Proficient in writing reports and communicating effectively with team members.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Basic arithmetic skills are required for measuring and calculating maintenance needs.

PROBLEM-SOLVING ABILITY

Capability to address practical issues and adapt to various situations with limited standardization.

CERTIFICATIONS

A valid driver's license is required for this position.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
