POSITION SUMMARY
The Facilities Technician is responsible for the upkeep and repair of the visitor center, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all guests. This role may involve collaborating with external contractors for specialized maintenance tasks.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:
- Executing and/or overseeing painting and structural repairs to the visitor center's masonry, woodwork, and furnishings.
- Maintaining detailed records of repairs and equipment history.
- Supervising external contractors and managing maintenance service agreements.
- Conducting visual inspections and testing of machinery and equipment, including café and retail areas.
- Installing, repairing, and coordinating the maintenance of electrical systems, including transformers and wiring.
- Performing essential repairs and maintenance on the physical structure of the visitor center.
- Carrying out basic electrical and plumbing tasks as needed.
- Demonstrating knowledge of fire and alarm systems.
- Initiating purchase orders for necessary parts and equipment.
- Managing and setting up seasonal outdoor decorations, including large displays.
- Collaborating with management to address facility-related projects and repairs.
WORK SCHEDULE
The typical working hours are from 7 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Flexibility may be required for contractor work outside of these hours, including potential weekend shifts.
WORKPLACE EXPECTATIONS
All employees are expected to maintain a clean and safe work environment. Regular attendance is crucial for the successful execution of this role. Employees must be able to follow directions, adhere to schedules, and focus on detailed tasks.
SUPERVISORY ROLE
This position does not involve supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:
- A high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Three to five years of relevant experience or training.
SKILLS REQUIRED
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and maintenance manuals.
- Effective communication skills for writing reports and interacting with team members.
- Basic mathematical skills for performing measurements and calculations.
- Problem-solving abilities to address practical challenges in various situations.
CERTIFICATIONS
A valid driver's license is required for this position.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This role requires the ability to stand, walk, and use hands frequently. Employees must be able to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds regularly.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Employees may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and electrical hazards. The noise level is typically moderate.
