Role Overview

This position is integral to the Blue Origin Engines division, focusing on the design, development, manufacturing, and testing of propulsion systems and engines. Our engines are designed for multiple applications, powering the next generation of rockets for commercial, civil, national security, and human spaceflight endeavors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a dedicated team of engineers in the Valves IPT, ensuring effective collaboration between program management, engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, and quality assurance.
  • Manage project scope, cost, schedule, and risks while overseeing procurement activities and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Define project goals and schedules in early phases, and facilitate communication among stakeholders to address changes and resolve issues in later phases.
  • Develop and maintain project plans to meet program objectives for builds, testing, and integration.
  • Track progress and report on the manufacturing team's scope, schedule, cost, and resource plans.
  • Identify and mitigate risks, ensuring that manufacturing and assembly activities are completed on time and within budget.
  • Maintain a comprehensive hardware usage log, tracking location, usage history, and maintenance of valve hardware.
  • Collaborate with procurement to ensure compliance with project requirements and budget constraints.
  • Drive engineering changes and coordinate with stakeholders to manage hardware priorities effectively.
  • Establish recovery strategies for non-conformances and other issues that may arise.

Qualifications

  • A strong passion for Blue Origin's mission of enabling human life in space.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering.
  • Over 5 years of experience in the aerospace sector, particularly in component fabrication, precision assembly, or testing.
  • Proven experience as a Project Engineer or Project Manager.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and quick thinking to keep projects on track.
  • Ability to foster effective working relationships that enhance team performance.
  • Familiarity with configuration management principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency is required.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in complex component development and manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic valve design and testing.
  • Experience with configuration management systems in engineering environments.
  • Proficiency in project management tools such as P6.
  • Experience in Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA).
