About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Engineer to join our team at Blue Origin. As a key member of our Engines business unit, you will be responsible for leading cross-functional teams through the design, development, and testing of engines and propulsion systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain project plans, ensuring timely delivery of program milestones for hardware builds, testing, and integration.
  • Lead a cross-functional team through the execution of all phases of the product lifecycle, from concept to production and flight.
  • Support BE-4 program meetings and communication paths, including weekly/monthly program management reviews, long-term forecasting, project deep dives, design reviews, and engineering review boards.
  • Prioritize, track, and report progress in support of valve and ignition assembly and acceptance testing.
  • Assess programmatic impacts of engineering change requests, develop and present implementation plans, and own them through completion.
  • Coordinate and drive engineering changes with upstream and downstream stakeholders, both within and outside of the Valves and Ignition IPT.
  • Respond to unexpected anomalies or escapes by leading a core team through initial response and plan development, ensuring design and development activities stay on schedule, stay on budget, and maintain the highest quality.
  • Review procurement plans for outsourced parts, verifying compliance to scope of work and budget.
  • Coordinate with procurement, internal, and external stakeholders to ensure that tooling needs are met and are actively managed to support program development/build milestones.
  • Identify and mitigate risks, including removal and escalations of blockers.
  • Develop recovery strategies when non-conformances or other escapes are identified.
  • Identify schedule-critical hardware, equipment, people, and facilities, develop recommendations and plans to resolve constraints.
  • Develop and report key project metrics.
Requirements
  • B.S. Degree in Engineering.
  • 5+ years of demonstrated project management experience in a technical field.
  • Experience coordinating and leading teams through aerospace engineering design processes and gated reviews.
  • Experience leading complex engineering design changes and anomaly investigations, acting as the single-threaded leader interfacing with chief engineers, program management, and internal/external customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully lead an engineering team through both programmatic and technical projects.
  • Experienced with implementing process improvement changes and owning them from cradle to grave.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle high-pressure environments and maintaining composure while leading technical teams to meet program goals.
  • Possess high attention to detail and strong organizational/coordination skills.
  • Strong aptitude for troubleshooting and quick thinking to keep the project moving forward.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusting and effective working relationships that improve team performance and deliver results.
  • Working knowledge of configuration management principles and practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
