About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Grant Writer to join our Municipal team at Colliers Engineering & Design in Holmdel, NJ.

Key Responsibilities
  • Research and analyze funding opportunities, summarizing details and staying up-to-date on assigned programs.
  • Conduct outreach to internal staff and clients to identify potential funding opportunities.
  • Lead meetings with internal and external clients and program contacts to discuss funding opportunities and application requirements.
  • Prepare and submit funding applications, including writing narratives, completing forms, and coordinating application components with clients and internal teams.
  • Communicate application requirements to teams and coordinate to compile complete and competitive applications.
  • Perform site visits as needed to gather project information and supporting documents.
  • Meet company standards for productivity and profitability, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and quality of results.
  • Responsible for quality control and quality assurance processes for assigned tasks.
  • Maintain regular contact with clients, consultants, government agencies, and involved communities to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with coworkers, support staff, and clients.
  • Lead and manage complex grant applications and teams of grant writers and support staff, including federal funding applications.
  • Develop and maintain expertise on specific funding programs, such as NJ Infrastructure Bank, NJDEP Green Acres Program, and FEMA Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC).
  • Manage grant writer teams and delegate work as needed.
  • Have direct contact with clients and maintain strong relationships to secure funding and contracts.
  • Assist in the assembly of pricing, estimating, scoping, and marketing strategies for proposed projects.
  • Work independently with minimal direction or correction from supervisors or grant managers.
  • Make decisions with little oversight regarding grant complexities and methods.
  • Assist with staff training and development.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Political Science, Philosophy, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in a related field.
  • Valid driver's license preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English for job-related communications and verbal instructions.
  • General computer skills, knowledge, and acumen, including Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask.
  • Willingness to travel regularly.
  • Advanced grant writing skills with local governments and the civil engineering field.
  • Experience with multiple funding programs, such as FHWA, FEMA, HUD CDBG, EPA Brownfields, USDA, and EPA Clean Water and Drinking Water State Revolving Funds.
  • Advanced writing and research skills.
  • Advanced communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to take ownership of work product and manage own time and workload.
  • Advanced knowledge of grants-related concepts, theories, principles, and practices.
  • Advanced investigative, analytical, and research techniques.
