Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Human Resources Director to join our team at the Moss Point School District. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the effective operation of the human resources office, providing strategic guidance and support to the district's HR functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Manage and review workers' compensation claims, from collecting reporting forms to ensuring proper filing and closure of claims in a timely manner.
  • Act as a liaison for the employee, physician, and the insurance carrier, representing the district at all hearings.
  • Post notification of vacancies, maintain personnel files, and prepare and submit all personnel reports for local, state, and federal agencies.
  • Ensure licensure of certified personnel, complete employment verifications, and background checks as required by law and district policy for all new employees.
  • Assist in the development and change of personnel procedures and policies, and represent the district in employee disciplinary actions, grievance resolutions, and hearings.
  • Respond to unemployment claims and appeals, and report unemployment compensation yearly.
  • Serve as MSIS Personnel Coordinator, managing data entry to the Mississippi Student Information System (MSIS) for personnel reporting.
  • Maintain and manage E-Verify and I-9 forms to ensure the identity and employment eligibility of all persons hired as required by Homeland Security.
  • Assist with the HRIS to ensure excellence in recordkeeping and staffing management.
Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Five years of professional experience in human resources, risk management, insurance program administration, workers' compensation insurance, or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of HR laws and regulations, and ability to develop and implement policies and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to represent the district in various settings.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong organizational and time management skills.
Working Conditions

This is a 235-day position, with salary commensurate with years of experience as determined under the policies and procedures of the Moss Point School District and in accordance with the pay scale.

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of School District's personnel.
