The Asphalt Paving Team Member plays a crucial role in the construction and maintenance of roads, highways, and parking facilities. This position involves working collaboratively with the paving crew, utilizing various tools and equipment to ensure quality outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to all safety protocols and utilizing the appropriate tools for each task.
- Comply with company policies and OSHA regulations to promote a safe workplace.
- Follow the direction of the Foreman regarding daily assignments and project expectations.
- Collaborate with the asphalt crew to execute paving tasks according to project specifications, while being flexible to take on various roles as needed.
- Assist the construction crew with essential tasks such as shoveling, raking, and traffic control.
- Handle construction materials by digging, spreading, and leveling as required.
- Lift and transport materials, tools, and supplies as necessary.
- Support the setup and removal of traffic control devices including signs, barricades, and cones.
- Report any issues to the Foreman, Superintendent, Safety Manager, or Human Resources Manager promptly.
- Adhere to the Company Attendance Policy to ensure operational efficiency.
- Exhibit a positive attitude and professionalism when interacting with colleagues, clients, and the public.
- Be adaptable to last-minute changes in schedule, location, and shift timings.
- Be prepared for overtime and potential travel as required by the job.
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends when necessary.
- Comply with the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) policy and maintain PPE in good condition.
- Demonstrate the physical capability to operate equipment in varying weather conditions for extended periods.
- Travel to and from job sites as needed, ensuring compliance with Driver Qualification Standards when operating company vehicles.
- Utilize hand and power tools effectively to complete tasks within specifications.
- Follow instructions from the Traffic Control Crew and adhere to safety standards as outlined in the Company Safety Policy.
- Take on additional responsibilities as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED preferred.
- Class B CDL license is mandatory.
- Preferred candidates will have a minimum of 2 years of experience in asphalt crew operations.
- Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting tight deadlines is essential.
- Exhibit strong safety awareness and a commitment to following company policies and safety standards.
- Reliable transportation is required, with the ability to work evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed.
- Maintain proper work attire including safety vests and footwear, presenting a professional image.
- Demonstrate a cooperative attitude and maintain professionalism in all interactions.
- Valid Driver's License is preferred.
- Must provide documentation proving the legal right to work in the United States.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
- Ability to endure the physical demands associated with heavy construction work.
- Adaptability to work in extreme weather conditions is necessary.
- Regular physical activities will include stretching, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, and walking.
- Capability to lift up to 50 lbs. repeatedly while using proper lifting techniques.
- Exposure to varying temperatures, both hot and cold, is expected.
