Position Overview

The Senior Educational Leader will be an accomplished classroom educator who takes on leadership and management responsibilities aligned with their compensation level. The primary objective of this role is to enhance the expertise, knowledge, and effectiveness of the teaching staff within a school or network of schools, while also refining the educational curriculum.

In this capacity, the Senior Educational Leader will oversee a team of educators to foster advancements in teaching and learning. This may include providing professional development through modeling, collaboration, and coaching, as well as employing strategies that cultivate knowledge, practice, and professional engagement among peers.

The individual will be tasked with leading and managing a significant area of the school's operations with considerable autonomy, ensuring the successful development, delivery, and assessment of the educational program.

Moreover, the Senior Educational Leader will play a crucial role in shaping policies related to teaching and learning within the institution, directly influencing the achievement of the school's objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Exemplify the values of the institution in all interactions with staff and the wider community.
  • Serve as the primary contact for Disability Inclusion initiatives.
  • Evaluate and, if necessary, modify existing inclusive education practices, including policies and programs.
  • Facilitate Disability Inclusion profile meetings and support all relevant stakeholders throughout the process.
  • Deliver evidence-based professional development to educators in alignment with the role's objectives.
  • Collaborate with the Student Support Services and Regional Disability Coordinator.
  • Assist staff, students, and parents in contributing to Disability Inclusion profile meetings.
  • Play a pivotal role in ensuring students with additional needs transition smoothly into the school environment, with effective information transfer between services.
  • Lead the development and implementation of high-quality Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities, incorporating input from students and parents.
  • Work in partnership with the student wellbeing team to promote positive social skills, safety, and resilience among students with disabilities.
  • Enhance staff capabilities in applying evidence-based teaching strategies to support all learners, including those with additional needs, in accordance with their IEPs.
  • Act as a resource for staff regarding differentiated teaching strategies tailored for individual students with additional needs.
  • In collaboration with the Assistant Principal, identify and gather data on students for the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data to better understand and support students with disabilities.
  • Contribute significantly as a member of the school leadership team to the execution of the Annual Implementation Plan and Strategic School Plan.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Principal and Assistant Principal.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be registered or eligible for registration with the relevant teaching authority and possess qualifications or demonstrated experience in the specified curriculum areas.
