Position Overview:

The Respiratory Therapist applies scientific principles to address clinical challenges in respiratory care. As an integral member of the healthcare team, and under medical supervision, the therapist executes a variety of procedures aimed at addressing the respiratory needs of patients across different age groups.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct evaluations to identify respiratory care requirements and recommend necessary adjustments in line with established policies and protocols. Monitor treatment effectiveness and maintain accurate documentation in compliance with departmental and legal standards.
  • Perform advanced evaluations and therapeutic interventions for patients needing respiratory support. Assess the success of these interventions and document findings appropriately.
  • Complete and document mandatory training and competencies within specified timeframes. Ensure ongoing proficiency in designated areas of responsibility.
  • Timely and accurate completion of all required documentation and billing processes.
  • Assist in facilitating patient transitions to appropriate referral services or home care, providing education to patients and families regarding respiratory health.
  • Educate and mentor other respiratory care personnel, nursing staff, and students on patient needs and respiratory therapy services.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy is required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in pulmonary rehabilitation, respiratory care, sleep medicine, or equivalent clinical education is required.
  • Certification as a Respiratory Therapist by the National Board for Respiratory Care is required upon hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required within 90 days of hire.
  • State licensure as a Respiratory Therapist in Michigan is required upon hire.
  • We encourage applications from individuals currently enrolled in or who have completed an RT Program.
