Position Overview:

The Respiratory Therapist applies scientific principles and therapeutic techniques to address clinical challenges in respiratory care. As a vital member of the healthcare team, and under medical supervision, the therapist performs a variety of procedures tailored to the respiratory needs of patients across different age groups.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct evaluations to identify respiratory care requirements, making informed recommendations and adjustments in line with established protocols. Assess treatment effectiveness and document findings according to departmental and regulatory standards. Perform necessary point-of-care testing.
  • Execute advanced evaluations, management, and therapeutic interventions for patients needing respiratory support. Evaluate the success of interventions and document outcomes in compliance with departmental and legal standards.
  • Complete and record mandatory training and competencies within specified timeframes. Maintain proficiency in all assigned responsibilities.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of all documentation and billing processes.
  • Facilitate seamless transitions for patients to appropriate referral services or home care, providing education to patients and families regarding respiratory health.
  • Educate and mentor fellow respiratory care staff, nursing personnel, and students about patient needs and respiratory therapy services.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy is required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in pulmonary rehabilitation, respiratory care, sleep medicine, or equivalent clinical education is required.
  • Certification as a Respiratory Therapist (CRT) from the National Board for Respiratory Care is required upon hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required within 90 days of hire.
  • State licensure as a Respiratory Therapist in Michigan is required upon hire.
  • We encourage applications from individuals currently enrolled in or who have completed an RT Program.

Work Environment:

This position is full-time, with night shifts scheduled from 6:30 p.m. to 7 a.m., including variable days and every other weekend.
