Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Correctional Health Coordinator to join our team at Dallas County. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive support to our Correctional Health staff, addressing the healthcare and treatment needs of incarcerated individuals and those recently released from incarceration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with supervisors and Parkland staff to design, implement, and evaluate correctional health programs.
  • Develop strategies to address healthcare and treatment needs of incarcerated individuals and those transitioning from incarceration to the community.
  • Ensure programs adhere to regulations, standards, and best practices in correctional health.
  • Advance correctional health issues through collaboration and partnership with correctional health staff, community partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with external agencies, healthcare providers, and community organizations to facilitate access to healthcare services for individuals involved in the criminal justice system.
  • Participate in meetings, committees, and workgroups related to correctional health initiatives.
  • Develop and deliver training sessions for correctional health staff on topics such as HIV/STIs, substance use disorders, and other relevant public health issues.
  • Provide educational resources and support to incarcerated individuals on healthcare topics and resources available upon release.
  • Identify opportunities for quality improvement in correctional health services and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Implement strategies to enhance the quality, efficiency, and accessibility of healthcare services for incarcerated individuals.
  • Establish systems for monitoring and evaluating program effectiveness and outcomes.
  • Collect and analyze data related to healthcare services, identifying areas for improvement and recommending corrective actions as necessary.
  • Prepare regular reports on program performance for supervisors and stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Public Health, Social Work, Healthcare Administration or a job-related field of study.
  • Three (3) years of work-related experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of public health principles, particularly in the areas of HIV/STIs and alcohol/substance use disorders.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including incarcerated individuals, staff, and community partners.
  • Skilled in the use of standard software applications.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments, and community stakeholders.
  • Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License, with a good driving record and reliable transportation.
