Position Summary: CRG is currently in search of a full-time Survey Researcher to contribute to the DHS FEMA Individual and Community Preparedness Division (ICPD). This division plays a vital role in enhancing the resilience of individuals, communities, and organizations against potential risks and hazards. The Survey Researcher will be instrumental in developing tools, programs, and training modules aimed at diverse audiences, from young children to volunteer first responders. The primary responsibility will involve assessing the emergency preparedness levels of a wide range of Americans and evaluating the effectiveness of outreach initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with a team of experienced behavioral scientists, analysts, and survey designers to plan and execute the National Household Survey (NHS) on Disaster Preparedness, aimed at gauging public attitudes and behaviors regarding preparedness.
  • Utilize a mixed-methods approach to data collection, incorporating web, telephone, and mail surveys available in both English and Spanish, targeting approximately 7,500 participants.
  • Design comprehensive Survey Protocols, outlining objectives, target demographics, study design, sampling strategies, data collection methods, and analysis plans.
  • Collect, clean, and analyze NHS data to derive meaningful insights.
  • Assess additional ICPD program data to identify capability gaps and recommend enhancements for effective messaging.
  • Gather and analyze stakeholder feedback to inform the Individual and Community Preparedness Learning Agenda.
  • Conduct targeted surveys for over 500 participants to evaluate the impact of outreach messaging, training, and disaster experiences among specific populations.
  • Ensure that all survey efforts align with strategic initiatives aimed at increasing public awareness and preparedness skills.
  • Work with team members to produce the NHS Data Digest and webinars.
  • Manage budgets, develop research protocols, conduct research activities, analyze data, and present findings.

Qualifications:

  • At least 10 years of experience in survey research and analysis.
  • Ph.D. from an accredited institution.
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain Public Trust suitability prior to contract commencement.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting surveys in underserved and underrepresented communities.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Connect and the full Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
  • Familiarity with DHS and FEMA Writing Style Guides and the Government Printing Office (GPO) Style Manual.

Work Location: This position is based in Washington, D.C. (hybrid). Candidates must be prepared to travel for a minimum of two weeks at any time to various duty locations.
