POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary responsibility of the Maintenance Clerk is to ensure that the maintenance department maintains sufficient inventory levels to support the uninterrupted operation of all production and packaging machinery, while applying efficiency and cost-effectiveness in fulfilling these requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Process and manage orders, including receiving products, tracking delivery information, maintaining accurate records, and verifying payment details with accounts payable. This may involve coordinating with the finance department to reconcile information.
  • Monitor inventory levels and ensure the availability of essential components for the continuous operation of production and packaging machinery.
  • Research pricing and availability to secure the best deals, while fostering productive relationships with vendors. Establish and maintain current vendor information and assist them during on-site visits.
  • Understand and adhere to operational guidelines for equipment use, including safety protocols and operational procedures.
  • Prepare bids for scheduled maintenance and repairs, and coordinate necessary repairs for both on-site and off-site equipment.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure all paperwork is completed promptly and in accordance with company standards.
  • Keep the work environment clean and organized by fulfilling assigned cleaning duties.
  • Follow safety and security protocols, taking appropriate actions when necessary, and report any unsafe conditions.
  • Consistently arrive on time for work, meetings, and training sessions.
  • Participate in all company-sponsored training events aimed at personal growth and development.
  • Exhibit a flexible attitude towards improvement and change.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, including administrative tasks.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including those related to personnel, safety, and equipment maintenance. Gain proficiency in production and safety policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Proficiency in computer applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, and the ability to learn D365) is essential. Previous experience in ordering, pricing, and preparing purchase orders is advantageous but not mandatory. Candidates should demonstrate strong motivation, organizational skills, time management, documentation, and communication abilities (both verbal and written). Attention to detail and the capacity to multitask and prioritize are crucial. A strong work ethic characterized by punctuality, dependability, and trustworthiness is required. The ability to apply common sense and skills in fulfilling responsibilities and operating equipment in line with company production, personnel, and safety procedures is necessary. Candidates should be able to read and understand instructions, write correspondence, and effectively communicate in small group settings. The ability to handle conflict professionally and contribute to a positive team environment is essential. Willingness to work overtime when required is expected.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

All employees at Balchem Cereal Systems must comply with personal protective equipment policies and procedures while working in the plant. Personal protective equipment must be worn as required to ensure safe working conditions.

Employees may occasionally be exposed to wet or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, extreme heat (non-weather related), high noise levels, and vibrations. Tolerance for high temperatures is necessary. Periodic work may occur in elevated or precarious locations, with exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, and extreme cold (non-weather related).
