Job Summary:
Cleaver-Brooks is seeking a highly skilled Material Handler to join our team. As a Material Handler, you will be responsible for receiving and unpacking materials and supplies, and moving them to their designated storage areas. You will also be responsible for compiling warehouse records, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all warehouse materials and locations, and performing cycle counting of inventory.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receiving and Unpacking: Unload and inspect incoming materials for damage or discrepancies, and report any issues to the purchasing department or supervisor.
- Inventory Management: Compare identifying information and count, weigh, or measure items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
- Labeling and Storage: Label all materials with the proper part number to identify them accurately and efficiently, and assign locations for material being received.
- Pulling and Preparing: Pull materials for pick lists generated by the IFS system for customer orders and shop orders, and prepare periodic, special, or perpetual inventory of stock.
- Logistics and Distribution: Maintain a log of any damaged or discrepant material awaiting disposition, and distribute stock to work centers, keeping records of material transferred or used.
- Equipment Operation: Operate material handling equipment, including forklifts, two-wheelers, and overhead cranes, and maintain a clean and organized warehouse, tool storage, and outside storage areas.
- Reporting and Analysis: Perform cycle count on assigned parts, record accuracy information, investigate reasons for discrepancies, interpret data, and prepare reports using multiple sources of data as needed.
- Continuous Improvement: Make recommendations for corrective action based on the results of discrepant part investigation, and maintain cycle count records as required and assigned.
Requirements:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED, with good reading, writing, and math skills.
- Experience: Knowledge of inventory control positions, storeroom operators, receiving, material handlers, or demonstrates a working knowledge of inventory movement and transactions.
- Skills: General knowledge of computer ERP systems, inventory transactions, and information screens, with some knowledge of Excel and/or Access helpful but not required.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 65 pounds, stand for up to 12 hours, and work in a fast-paced environment with frequent bending, stretching, stooping, and squatting.
