POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure that the maintenance department maintains sufficient inventory levels to support the continuous operation of all production and packaging machinery, while also applying efficiency and cost-effectiveness in fulfilling these requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Process and manage orders, including receiving products, tracking deliveries, maintaining records, and verifying payment information with accounts payable, while ensuring the integrity of items upon receipt and managing returns and refunds.
  2. Monitor inventory levels and maintain the minimum required stock to ensure uninterrupted production and packaging operations.
  3. Research pricing and availability to secure the best deals, fostering productive relationships with vendors, and onboarding new suppliers while keeping vendor information current.
  4. Understand and adhere to equipment operation guidelines, including safety protocols and operational procedures.
  5. Prepare bids for scheduled maintenance and repairs, coordinating repairs for both on-site and off-site equipment as necessary.
  6. Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with company standards in all paperwork.
  7. Keep the work environment organized and clean by completing assigned cleaning tasks.
  8. Observe safety and security protocols, taking appropriate actions beyond standard guidelines, and reporting any unsafe conditions.
  9. Consistently arrive on time for work, meetings, and training sessions.
  10. Participate in all company-sponsored training events aimed at personal growth and development.
  11. Maintain a flexible attitude towards continuous improvement and change.
  12. Perform additional duties as assigned, including administrative tasks.
  13. Adhere to all company policies and procedures related to personnel, safety, and equipment maintenance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Proficiency in computer applications is essential (Word, Outlook, Excel, and the ability to learn D365). Previous experience in ordering, pricing, and preparing purchase orders is preferred but not mandatory. Candidates should demonstrate strong motivation, organizational skills, time management, documentation, and effective communication skills (both verbal and written). Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively are crucial. A strong work ethic, including punctuality, dependability, and trustworthiness, is required. The ability to apply common sense and skills in fulfilling responsibilities and operating equipment in accordance with company policies is necessary. Candidates should be able to read and comprehend instructions, write correspondence, and effectively present information in small group settings. Professional conflict resolution skills and the ability to foster a positive team environment are essential. Availability for overtime work may be required.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Employees at Balchem Cereal Systems must comply with personal protective equipment policies and procedures while working in the plant. All provided personal protective equipment must be worn as required to ensure safe working conditions.

Occasional exposure to wet or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, extreme heat (non-weather related), high noise levels, and vibrations may occur. Employees must be able to tolerate high temperatures and may work in elevated or precarious positions, as well as in environments with fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, and extreme cold (non-weather related).
