The ARQUIMEA Research Center (ARC), established in 2019, is focused on pioneering the technologies of the future. Our emphasis is on Deep Tech solutions that significantly impact markets and address future global challenges. We pursue a product-oriented strategy, diversifying our market presence and fostering international growth to create tomorrow's technology. Our projects stem from the convergence of exponential technologies or Deep Tech, encompassing Nanotechnology and Materials, Sensors, Drones & Robotics, Biotechnology & Genetics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Quantum Technologies, Networks & Security, and Digital Manufacturing.

We are seeking a Senior Research Scientist specializing in Photonics and Quantum Technologies. The primary responsibility will be to conduct advanced research in Photonics, particularly in Sensing and Quantum applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in pioneering research on Photonics with applications in Sensing and Quantum technologies.
  • Design, construct, and enhance experimental setups within a dedicated R&D Photonics laboratory.
  • Lead and collaborate with small to medium-sized multidisciplinary teams across various research domains utilizing agile methodologies.
  • Prepare project proposals that encompass excellence, impact, planning, task estimation, peer review, and documentation.
  • Remain informed about the latest advancements in Photonics, Quantum Sensing, and Quantum Information Processing.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Ph.D. in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline with a focus on Photonics and/or Quantum Technologies.
  • Extensive experience in optoelectronic instrumentation, with a proven track record in designing and building experimental setups.
  • Knowledge and enthusiasm for current trends in the Photonic Integrated Circuit sector and various technology platforms (such as SOI, SiN, PLC, InP, and hybrids).
  • Demonstrated expertise in experimental photonic sensors, with experience in quantum sensing experiments using NV centers being highly regarded.
  • A strong sense of curiosity and a proactive approach to exploring new R&D fields and adopting cutting-edge technologies.
  • Excellent command of English.

We are looking for a senior-level candidate who can provide leadership, project management, and R&D expertise in photonics, and ideally in quantum sensing, complemented by laboratory experience.

Contract Type: Permanent
