We are seeking an Optical Communications Engineer to design, develop, and enhance cutting-edge optical communication systems aimed at high-speed data transmission.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement free-space optical communication systems, encompassing transmitters, receivers, and optical amplifiers.
  • Develop simulation models to forecast system performance and refine design parameters.
  • Conduct experimental tests and evaluations to confirm system designs and meet performance standards.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate optical components with electronic and software systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to optical signal integrity, noise, and loss.
  • Document design processes, test outcomes, and technical specifications for future reference and compliance.
  • Stay informed about the latest advancements in optical communication technologies and integrate relevant innovations into projects.
Qualifications and Candidate Profile:
  • MSc or PhD in Physics, Engineering, or a related field with a focus on Optical Communications.
  • Expertise in optical communication theory and free-space optics technology.
  • Experience with optical modulation techniques and coherent optics.
  • Familiarity with optical and photonic components such as lasers, photodetectors, and optical amplifiers, along with beam steering technologies.
  • Strong background in simulation tools like VPIphotonics, OptiSystem, or similar.
  • Hands-on experience with optical testing equipment including optical spectrum analyzers, BER testers, VNAs, and OTDR.
  • Understanding of resilience against optical threats, including strategies for mitigating physical layer attacks and system vulnerabilities.
  • Knowledge of signal processing algorithms applicable to optical communications.
  • Expertise in complementary areas such as quantum communications and satellite communications is highly desirable.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a collaborative team-oriented mindset.
  • Strong proficiency in English.
