Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and develop an independent translational research initiative.
  • Secure significant external funding to support the translational research agenda (e.g., NIH, DOD).
  • Oversee and actively participate in major cancer research projects, including the creation and execution of research protocols and grant applications.
  • Analyze research data, adjusting methodologies as necessary based on findings.
  • Document and present project outcomes to the principal investigator or Director of Surgical Research.
  • Assist Hematology Oncology and Pathology trainees in the preparation of research manuscripts, reports, and abstracts for publication.
  • Facilitate training for Hematology Oncology trainees, technicians, and laboratory staff on laboratory practices, equipment usage, and safety protocols.
  • Engage with industrial, governmental, or other entities regarding the progress and outcomes of research projects.
  • Supervise a diverse team of professionals engaged in both routine and complex laboratory tasks.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Experience Required:

We seek highly skilled scientists with a proven track record of leading an independent, funded research program. Candidates should possess experience in mentoring, training, and project management, particularly in the field of translational cancer research with a strong focus on Hematology Oncology. Experience as a Principal Investigator with a history of preparing and submitting NIH K or R grants is essential.

Education Requirements:

A Ph.D., MD, or MD/PhD or equivalent is required.
