Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Human Resources Specialist to join our team at Bigge Crane and Rigging. The successful candidate will provide administrative support to internal clients in the areas of employee pre-employment, onboarding, status change, and terminations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support to internal clients in the areas of employee pre-employment, onboarding, status change, and terminations.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date human resources files, records, and documentation while maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
  • Write, revise, edit, and proofread company policies & procedures and related documents as needed.
  • Answer frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refer more complex questions to appropriate senior-level HR staff or management.
  • Conduct or assist with new hire orientations.
  • Facilitate the onboarding process and required paperwork for new hires such as offer letters, reference checks, I-9 verifications, background checks, DOT pre-employment drug testing, etc.
  • Conduct staff training(s) for all HRIS applications and human resources initiatives.
  • Act as a liaison between the organization and external benefits providers and vendors, which may include health, disability, and retirement plan providers.
  • Ensure proper benefit plan administration including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), FMLA, etc.
  • Responsible for 401(k) administration to include adding and changing employee information, notifying newly eligible employees during open enrollment, loan deductions/deferrals, the distribution process, and year-end compliance.
  • Maintain the HRIS records and reporting for various requirements such as Workers Compensation, 401(k) contributions, Federal/State Reporting (i.e., EEO, OSHA, etc.)
  • Understand and adhere to all applicable Federal and State laws.
  • Perform periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
  • Assist with planning and execution of special events such as benefits open enrollment, organization-wide meetings, employee recognition events, etc.
  • Assist in the execution of various HR projects/initiatives. Ex: Bigge Wellness Program, Health Fairs, SLCA Communications Luncheons.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Associate degree in human resources or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of business administration experience is required, preferably in HR.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Familiarity with HR software and databases (preferably BambooHR, ADP Workforce Now, Microsoft D365, HSI, BeneTrac, etc.).
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • High level of confidentiality and integrity.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
