Title: Marketing Assistant Manager

Reports to: Executive Vice President of Direct to Consumer and Retail Operations

Department: Baker Book House

Work Arrangement: Hybrid

Employment Type: Full-time, 40 hours per week, with potential for overtime upon prior approval

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Role Objective:

The primary aim of the Marketing Assistant Manager is to support the comprehensive marketing strategy and initiatives of Baker Book House. This position plays a crucial role in enhancing the performance of both retail and ecommerce sectors to meet the financial objectives of the organization and ensure profitability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive sales and marketing strategies through email campaigns:
    • Develop monthly communications highlighting new releases and events
    • Distribute 4-5 transactional emails, including a weekly newsletter
    • Promote special in-store events and sales through targeted emails
    • Coordinate preorder email campaigns as requested by publishing partners
    • Manage email requests from publishing partners
  • Assist in organizing in-store and virtual events by setting up event management tools and coordinating promotional materials (e.g., graphics, posters, signage) and potentially providing technical support during events.
  • Implement and manage OptInMonster slide-ins for website engagement.
  • Contribute to the creation of in-store promotional materials such as flyers and signage.
  • Build and maintain landing pages on the company website.
  • Add digital assets to individual book pages as requested by the store team or publishing marketing.
  • Develop and manage advertisements displayed on in-store television monitors.
  • Create and oversee banner ads for the website and homepage.
  • Act as a liaison between publishing and retail operations.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years of experience in marketing
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a focus on serving the needs of store staff and customers
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Self-motivated and proactive
  • Proficient in email marketing tools, Canva, Prism, Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Adobe Suite is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing or a related field is required

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation will be based on qualifications and experience. As a full-time employee, benefits include health, dental, vision, group life insurance, short- and long-term disability insurance, profit sharing, paid time off, paid parental leave, and a 401(k) plan after three months of employment.
