Overview:

SUMMARY:

The Security Officer is responsible for upholding regulations and protocols aimed at safeguarding premises from security breaches. This role requires sound judgment and discretion when addressing incidents and emergencies, including decisions on whether to intervene directly, seek assistance, maintain control of situations, or notify the relevant authorities for further action. The position necessitates specialized training in security techniques and methods. The officer will perform guard duties and must demonstrate proficiency with firearms and other specialized equipment, in addition to meeting stringent physical fitness criteria.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Arrive at work in the designated uniform and ensure it is maintained throughout the shift.
  • Execute security guard responsibilities effectively.
  • Enforce regulations and procedures to avert security breaches.
  • Utilize sound judgment and discretion in emergency situations.
  • Assess whether to intervene, request assistance, maintain control, or report incidents to the appropriate authorities.
  • Be prepared to work beyond standard hours when necessary.
  • Adapt to various shifts, including day, swing, or night as assigned.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen and possess or maintain a background suitability determination through the Department of Justice (DOJ).
  • Certification as a Security Officer is required.
  • Exhibit strong organizational skills and possess excellent verbal and written communication abilities to interact with personnel and governmental entities at all levels.
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills are essential.
  • Familiarity with office policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Must secure and maintain background suitability through the DOJ, along with a satisfactory background check, negative drug test, positive references, and proof of identity and legal work authorization.

Essential functions require maintaining physical fitness for activities such as bending, stooping, sitting, walking, or standing for extended periods, often in challenging environments and adverse weather conditions; lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds; and operating under high-stress situations. The role necessitates visual acuity for reviewing documents, the ability to hear and comprehend speech at normal levels, and manual dexterity for operating communication devices.

Field conditions may include exposure to dust and sand, with temperatures ranging from extremely low in winter to high in summer. The position typically requires working over 10 hours per day.
