Operational Security Assurance Officer

Your Role:

The Cybersecurity Systems Protection Officer will play a crucial role in maintaining the necessary operational security posture for each designated information system or product. This position entails the daily execution, supervision, and upkeep of security configurations, practices, and protocols for each product under the officer's responsibility, in alignment with federal regulations and guidelines. Collaborate with various teams to ensure comprehensive security for the product. This role offers a hybrid work arrangement, requiring three days onsite and two days remote each week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee security operations and management, including access control and policy implementation.
  • Engage in security planning and documentation, ensuring compliance with FISMA, SSP, ATO, and related standards.
  • Conduct security monitoring and evaluation, including audits, assessments, and risk management activities.
  • Facilitate security awareness and training initiatives.
  • Manage security incident reporting and response, including the development of Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms).

Functional Duties:

  • Inform the Information System Security Manager (ISSM) of any changes that may impact the authorization status of the information systems.
  • Perform regular reviews of information systems to verify adherence to the security authorization package.
  • Monitor recovery processes to ensure that security features and procedures are effectively restored and operational.
  • Maintain current and accessible documentation related to information security for authorized personnel.
  • Participate in mandatory technical and security training relevant to assigned responsibilities.
  • Conduct self-inspections related to cybersecurity, including the coordination and review of system assessment plans.
  • Identify cybersecurity vulnerabilities and assist in implementing appropriate countermeasures.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports detailing the status of security measures applied to computer systems.
  • Support in-house customers by performing ISSO duties.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess a Top Secret Clearance and be able to pass a Counter Intelligence polygraph examination.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in computer science or a cybersecurity-related field, or a minimum of five years of relevant work experience.
  • Familiarity with security tools such as Tenable's Nessus, IBM Guardium, HP WebInspect, and Network Mapper (NMAP).
  • Certification in at least one of the following is required during the contract period:
    • International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium (ISC2)
    • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
    • Certified Information System Security Officer (CISSO)
    • Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC) Information Security Professional (GISP)
    • Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP)
    • Other certifications demonstrating proficiency in DoD Instruction IAM Level III.

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous experience in roles such as System or Network Administrator.
  • Hands-on experience at a mid to senior level.
  • Working knowledge of Xacta software.
