Your Role:

The Cybersecurity Systems Officer will play a crucial role in maintaining the operational security framework for assigned information systems or products. This position entails the daily implementation, supervision, and upkeep of security configurations, practices, and protocols for each product under the officer's responsibility, adhering to federal standards and guidelines. Collaborate with various teams to ensure comprehensive security measures are in place for the product. This is a hybrid position, requiring three days onsite and two days remote each week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee security operations and management, including access control and policy execution.
  • Engage in security planning and documentation, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Conduct security monitoring and evaluations, including audits and risk assessments.
  • Facilitate security awareness and training programs.
  • Manage security incident reporting and response efforts.

Functional Duties:

  • Alert the Information System Security Manager (ISSM) of any changes that may impact the security authorization of the information systems.
  • Perform regular reviews of information systems to verify compliance with security authorization requirements.
  • Supervise system recovery processes to ensure that security features and protocols are restored and functioning as intended.
  • Maintain current and accessible documentation related to information security for authorized personnel.
  • Participate in necessary technical and security training relevant to assigned responsibilities.
  • Execute the cybersecurity component of self-inspections, including the coordination and review of system assessment plans.
  • Identify cybersecurity vulnerabilities and assist in implementing appropriate countermeasures.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports on the status of security measures applied to computer systems.
  • Support in-house customers by performing ISSO duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess a Top Secret Clearance and the ability to pass a Counter Intelligence polygraph examination.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in computer science or a related field, or a minimum of five years of experience in a cybersecurity role.
  • Familiarity with security tools such as Tenable's Nessus, IBM Guardium, HP WebInspect, and Network Mapper (NMAP).
  • Certification in at least one of the following is required during the contract period:
    • International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium (ISC2)
    • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
    • Certified Information System Security Officer (CISSO)
    • Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC) Information Security Professional (GISP)
    • Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP)
    • Other certifications demonstrating proficiency in DoD Instruction IAM Level III.

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous experience in roles such as System or Network Administrator.
  • Hands-on experience at a mid to senior level.
  • Familiarity with Xacta software.
