The Clinical Services Supervisor is a licensed professional responsible for delivering specialized knowledge in mental health and human development services. This role entails leading and overseeing the clinical department that supports students across various educational and campus life initiatives. The supervisor will assess treatment progress, conduct evaluations, provide expert consultation and counseling, and create tailored treatment plans and interventions that cater to the unique needs of each student. Responsibilities also include coordinating progress reports, managing crises, and overseeing behavioral and family therapy protocols. Furthermore, the supervisor will foster essential relationships and collaborate with students, their families, and staff at Shrub Oak International School to ensure that each student's individual requirements are met. Given the access to sensitive information, the role demands a high level of discretion and independent judgment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead mental health and human development initiatives through a collaborative approach, ensuring that students' individualized needs are addressed by working closely with the clinical team, educational staff, administration, families, and external partners.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and reassessments of students' social and emotional needs, developing personalized ITEP goals and treatment strategies based on these evaluations.
  • Employ a variety of student-centered, strength-based, and creative therapeutic modalities to meet the specific needs of each student.
  • Provide and/or oversee counseling sessions for individuals and groups, utilizing evidence-based therapeutic techniques.
  • Design, implement, and supervise innovative systems, groups, and alternative programming tailored for students.
  • Manage the scheduling of clinical staff and ensure that clinical documentation and session notes are accurately prepared and submitted as required.
  • Collaborate with other clinicians and educational staff to ensure a holistic and integrated approach to each student's progress, considering their developmental, emotional, and social needs.
  • Support students in community and workplace settings to enhance their success in social integration and future employment opportunities.
  • Maintain proactive communication with students, families, and caregivers to effectively address student development and challenges.
  • Supervise the maintenance of necessary records, evaluations, and reports as mandated.
  • Engage in clinical and organizational activities to enhance professional knowledge and stay updated on advancements in the field.
  • Assist with various programs, events, and services at Shrub Oak, taking on a diverse range of responsibilities.
  • Stay informed on clinical practices to maintain a high standard of knowledge regarding evaluation and intervention strategies.
  • Participate in community and professional education related to clinical matters and life skills independence.
  • As a vital member of the mental health leadership team, fulfill on-call responsibilities, which may include weekend and overnight coverage.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Possession of a valid New York State License in good standing.
  • A Master's degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, BCBA, or a related mental health field is required; a Doctorate in any of these fields or in Psychology is also acceptable (5 years).
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience working with students with developmental disabilities or on the autism spectrum is highly preferred; experience in an educational setting is advantageous.

  • Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office, and the ability to learn new software systems.

Supervisory and Budget Responsibilities

Physical Demands
The role may involve managing multiple demands and deadlines, requiring sustained concentration and mobility across a multi-level campus.

Position Type
This is a full-time, 12-month position, with a standard 40-hour work week, although additional hours may be necessary.

Additional Requirements
A valid driver's license is preferred.
