Position Overview: Under the guidance of a Security Supervisor, the Overnight Security Officer plays a crucial role in ensuring a safe and secure atmosphere for the students, staff, parents, and visitors of Shrub Oak International School. This position is hands-on and involves safeguarding the school's assets while actively patrolling the campus and monitoring premises through direct observation and CCTV.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily security operations and respond effectively to safety or emergency situations.
  • Participate in security and safety training sessions and drills.
  • Implement emergency response and business continuity plans as required.
  • Document incidents related to physical security and potential liabilities, adhering to established policies and procedures.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to students, staff, and visitors, ensuring accurate and detailed reporting of sensitive security incidents.
  • Exhibit the ability to respond swiftly to urgent situations, maintaining discretion and independent judgment.

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma is required, along with a minimum of 60 college credits in relevant fields such as police science, law enforcement, or criminal justice, or equivalent experience in a similar role.
  • Possession of a NYS Security Guard License or completion of the 8-hour pre-employment class is necessary. Candidates without a valid NYS Security Guard license must complete the required post-employment classes within 90 days of hire.
  • Familiarity with security methods and techniques, including investigation, identification, patrolling, and crime prevention.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficient computer skills and knowledge of security software systems, fire suppression systems, and CCTV technology.
  • A valid driver's license is required.

Work Environment: The role involves a combination of office and outdoor settings, with potential exposure to various environmental factors.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to walk extensively, including climbing stairs to patrol buildings and grounds.
  • Stamina to stand for extended periods and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Capability to respond quickly to emergencies, including lifting or moving heavy objects as necessary.

Compensation: Competitive hourly wage of $20.
