ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

As the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor for the Department of Corrections, your primary responsibility will be to oversee inmate work crews involved in routine construction and maintenance activities at the Corrections Training Academy, which spans approximately 254 acres and includes ten operational facilities, such as dormitories, training classrooms, a kitchen and dining area, a boiler plant, a potable water distribution system, a sewage collection system, and a uniform distribution warehouse. Your tasks will encompass lawn care, snow removal, cleaning services, and various general maintenance functions. Additionally, you will perform or assist maintenance personnel in semi-skilled and skilled trades, including carpentry, painting, masonry, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical work, steam fitting, welding, and other specialized trades. You will also be responsible for planning and assigning daily schedules for inmates, inspecting completed tasks, and managing the issuance and inventory of all materials and tools utilized in these operations.


Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time position, 40-hour work week
  • Work hours are 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday - Friday
  • This role is eligible for comprehensive benefits at age 50 or 55.
  • Salary: The starting salary may be non-negotiable, with new hires within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania beginning at an annual salary of $44,753 (before taxes).
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Experience and Training:

  • Four years of experience in building maintenance, construction, or general trades work; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
  • Ability to perform essential job functions.

  • Successful completion of a background investigation.
