Job Summary:

The Chief Information Officer will lead the development and implementation of data collection, validation, and reporting systems for K-12 education data. This position will also oversee the information technology infrastructure needed for agency operations and collaborate with state agencies on shared data systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set the vision for PED IT and work through structural, personnel, process, and technical challenges to achieve it.
  • Help build capacity for change and improvement, coordinate with other leaders within PED, develop resources, and manage budget.
  • Direct and support IT managers and serve as a spokesman for the IT division.
  • Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, data governance, and cross-agency collaborations regarding data.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to improve systems and build support for agency initiatives.
  • Develop metrics and tracking of IT progress and ensure data quality and timeliness are improving.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Engineering, or a similar technical degree.
  • At least ten years of experience in at least two of the following areas: Applications Development, IT Architecture, Data Management, Network Administration, Project Management, IT Security/Compliance, or Systems Administration.
  • At least six years of managing multiple IT teams.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending, and reaching may be required.
