Position Overview

The Elder Protection Specialist at 95149 plays a crucial role in safeguarding the well-being of senior citizens by investigating and addressing instances of abuse, neglect, and exploitation. This position involves the formulation and execution of comprehensive service plans that encompass medical, legal, housing, and in-home care services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough investigations into allegations of abuse, neglect, and exploitation of elderly individuals, ensuring ongoing case management for protective services clients.
  • Develop and implement tailored Service Plans that may include a variety of support services.
  • Maintain precise and current case documentation in accordance with regulatory standards.
  • Provide expert consultation to colleagues and community organizations regarding protective services cases.
  • Participate in an on-call team to address consumer needs outside of regular hours.
  • Perform additional related duties as necessary.
Qualifications

Educational Background:

  • A master's degree or higher in social work, psychology, counseling, human development, nursing, sociology, criminal justice, public health, public policy, or gerontology, along with a minimum of one year of relevant experience in counseling or case management, preferably in protective services or crisis intervention.
  • A bachelor's degree in the aforementioned fields, accompanied by at least two years of experience in counseling or case management focused on protective or crisis intervention services.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain effective communication and interpersonal relationships.
  • Familiarity with medical, mental health, and social service delivery systems, as well as proficient record-keeping practices.

A valid driver's license and access to a legally insured vehicle are mandatory.

Physical and Mental Requirements

Physical: The role necessitates visual, auditory, and mobility capabilities, including the ability to operate a vehicle, communicate effectively, and utilize office equipment.

Mental: The position requires the capacity to comprehend complex program instructions and laws, adapt to rapidly changing environments, and interact with diverse personalities.

Work Environment

The work setting is a combination of office-based tasks and fieldwork, which includes visiting clients in their homes. The candidate must be adaptable to various environmental conditions and able to tolerate common office and home-related odors.
