Key Responsibilities

As a Certified Respiratory Care Specialist, your primary duties will include:

  • Administering respiratory treatments as prescribed by the attending physician.
  • Conducting diagnostic assessments to determine the necessity and effectiveness of therapies.
  • Initiating and overseeing care for patients on mechanical ventilation.
  • Documenting relevant patient information in medical records.
  • Performing both noninvasive and invasive diagnostic tests.
  • Maintaining and calibrating respiratory care equipment as necessary.
  • Acting as a protocol assessor for respiratory care practices.
Qualifications

Experience:

  • Preferred experience in an acute care hospital setting.

Education:

  • Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Care Certification Program.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license in Texas.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification in accordance with healthcare policies.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required within a specified timeframe after hiring.
