Key Responsibilities

As a Licensed Respiratory Care Specialist, your primary duties will include administering respiratory treatments as prescribed by the attending physician. You will also perform diagnostic evaluations to assess the necessity for and effectiveness of therapy.

  • Initiate, oversee, and manage care for patients on mechanical ventilation.
  • Administer and evaluate respiratory treatment protocols.
  • Document relevant information in patient medical records.
  • Conduct both noninvasive and invasive diagnostic assessments.
  • Maintain and calibrate respiratory care equipment as necessary.
  • Act as a protocol assessor for respiratory care practices.
Qualifications

Experience

  • 1-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Preferred experience in an acute care hospital setting.

Education

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduation from an accredited respiratory therapy program or sufficient college credits to qualify for certification.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
