Overview:
As a Senior Optical Packaging Engineer, you will spearhead the mechanical design of packaging for Avicena's cutting-edge optical interconnect technologies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to establish mechanical requirements and devise packaging solutions tailored for Avicena's innovative products.
  • Assess mechanical characteristics of packaging designs from initial concept through to mass production, ensuring they meet performance, reliability, manufacturability, yield, and cost objectives.
  • Supervise junior engineers, consultants, and partners in the development of optical and optomechanical packaging solutions.
  • Create detailed specifications for mechanical components.
  • Engage with key suppliers to refine component designs for optimal performance.
  • Conduct comprehensive design, tolerance, and yield analyses, along with simulations of mechanical and optomechanical components, subassemblies, and systems.
  • Assist in the development of assembly processes and tooling.
  • Oversee mechanical and optomechanical testing of components and subsystems.
  • Contribute to the formulation of mechanical and optomechanical testing procedures and systems at both component and subsystem levels.
  • Troubleshoot issues during product integration and analyze data to enhance yield.
  • Develop and implement reliability and qualification testing for packaging.
  • Execute Failure Mode Engineering Analysis (FMEA) as required.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in creating optomechanical packaging solutions.
  • Proven experience collaborating with vendors to develop high-performance mechanical and optomechanical components.
  • Extensive hands-on proficiency with SolidWorks, including design and simulation capabilities.
  • Master’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Ability to work autonomously in a dynamic startup environment, adapting to and overcoming unforeseen challenges.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal communication skills, both within the organization and with external partners, customers, and consultants.
