Compensation Overview
Annual Pay Range:
$134,000 - $249,600
At Infinera, the base salary is just one aspect of your comprehensive compensation package. Your actual salary will be influenced by your skills, qualifications, experience, and geographic location. Position Summary
The Optical Integrated Component Group is seeking a qualified individual to contribute to the development of coherent and direct-detect optical modules for high-capacity data communication systems. The successful candidate will collaborate with teams specializing in component design, system architecture, and optical engineering, focusing on testing, validating designs, and evaluating processes for current and next-generation versatile pluggable modules in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the development of high-speed coherent and direct-detect optical module and sub-assembly testing, along with RF test set creation.
- Formulate test plans and algorithms, and execute performance validation tests for modules.
- Collaborate closely with ASIC, Photonic Integrated Circuit (PIC), and module design teams, as well as the systems engineering group, to ensure the successful launch of new products.
We are looking for candidates with a robust background in either optical or electronic high-speed characterization:
- Solid understanding of high-speed optoelectronic device characteristics and/or high-speed RF communication electronics.
- Familiarity with coherent and/or direct-detect communication subsystems, including modulation formats, multiplexing concepts, and performance metrics of broadband communication systems.
- Hands-on experience with high-speed optoelectronic device characterization techniques (e.g., >50GHz electro-optical small signal testing, QPSK/PAM large signal testing) and related equipment (e.g., VNA/PNA, LCA, AWG, real-time oscilloscopes).
- Fundamental knowledge of active semiconductor optoelectronic device characteristics (e.g., semiconductor lasers/amplifiers, photodiodes, modulators).
- Programming skills in Matlab, C, C++, Python, or similar languages for instrument control automation and data acquisition.
- Experience in signal analysis and processing is advantageous.
- Capability to build, maintain, and troubleshoot complex test hardware and software in a collaborative environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing thorough documentation.
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional development teams, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
PhD in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field with a minimum of 3 years of relevant graduate-level or industrial experience in optical communications, photonics, high-speed electronics, or systems. Candidates with a Master’s degree and 3+ years of applicable experience will also be considered.
