Senior Optical Measurement Engineer - Emerging Optics

Precision and accuracy in measurement are essential for engineering excellence. As a Senior Optical Measurement Engineer, you will collaborate with the display and optics teams to create and enhance testing methodologies, specifications, laboratory apparatus, and software tools. Your focus will be on display and LED components across various consumer electronics during both the engineering and manufacturing stages.

Key Responsibilities
In this position, you will:

  1. Design and construct testing configurations to evaluate optical characteristics such as radiant distribution, MTF, contrast, and CIE.
  2. Develop automated testing systems that encompass instrument control, data collection, analysis, and reporting using MATLAB and other programming languages.
  3. Oversee, maintain, and calibrate optical and electrical testing instruments.
  4. Diagnose hardware, software, and configuration challenges in testing setups, prototypes, and production items utilizing various laboratory testing equipment.
  5. Gather and interpret data to generate reports and recommendations for cross-functional teams.
  6. Create specification and procedural documentation.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in physical sciences, engineering, or a related discipline
- 3+ years of relevant experience in optical measurement or a similar testing and evaluation role
- Proficiency in hands-on testing, troubleshooting, and calibration of optical and electronic devices and instrumentation
- Familiarity with standard optical measurement tools such as power meters, interferometers, spectrometers, polarimeters, colorimeters, and scatterometers
- Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans, and testing procedures

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master's degree in physical sciences, engineering, or a related discipline
- Proficiency in at least one standard optical design software such as Zemax, Code V, or TracePro
- Expertise in MATLAB, Python, or other common laboratory programming languages
- Knowledge of LED, LCD, OLED, and/or reflective display technologies
- Experience in consumer electronics mass production and collaboration with CM/OEM/ODM partners
- Familiarity with machine vision techniques and metrics related to inspection and measurement
- Understanding of photometry, color science, and human vision
- Ability to work, communicate, and collaborate effectively in a cross-functional team environment
- Strong skills in data and statistical analysis
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision
