Job Overview

Position Summary
DigiLens Inc. is on the lookout for an experienced and skilled Lead Optical Systems Engineer to enhance our Optical R&D division. This role focuses on the innovation and development of cutting-edge waveguide display technologies and holographic manufacturing processes. The successful candidate will engage in the dynamic field of augmented, virtual, and mixed reality (AR/VR/MR), contributing to pioneering advancements in this rapidly evolving sector.

Key Responsibilities
As a Lead Optical Systems Engineer, your duties will include:

  • Creating and refining optical frameworks for DigiLens waveguide devices, aligning with the technology roadmap and strategic business objectives.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to transform design ideas into tangible products.
  • Documenting comprehensive design summaries, performance metrics, fabrication protocols, and process enhancements.
  • Conducting hands-on assembly and testing to verify that prototypes meet established specifications.
  • Mentoring and providing support to junior engineers as necessary.
  • Preparing training materials and documentation to facilitate the transition of R&D solutions to production teams and clients.
  • Assisting in business development efforts and delivering optical training as required.

Qualifications and Skills Required

  • Master's or Doctorate in Optics, Physics, or a related engineering field.
  • A minimum of 8 years of industry experience with a Master's degree or 5 years with a Doctorate.
  • Proficient in optical design software such as Zemax or similar tools.
  • Experienced in the design and application of diffractive and holographic technologies.
  • Strong background in optical system design across various applications.
  • Skilled in optical hardware setup, including alignment, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on experience with near-to-eye or head-up display technologies for AR/VR.
  • Familiarity with microdisplay and miniature projection systems.
  • Competent in programming environments such as Matlab or Labview.
  • Self-motivated, energetic, and capable of thriving in a startup culture.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
  • A genuine passion for optical engineering and AR/MR/VR technologies.
  • A collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills, able to inspire and guide junior engineers and technicians.
