We are seeking a highly skilled individual to join our Vision Products Group (VPG) at Apple, focusing on the architecture of sensing hardware. In this role, you will engage in breaking down use cases, formulating the operational theory of sensor constellations, and creating advanced analytical tools. Your responsibilities will also include assessing various sensing hardware architectures for spatial computing platforms through rigorous simulation, testing, and analysis.
You will collaborate closely with experts across multiple domains, including sensor hardware, signal processing, algorithms, and both mechanical and electrical engineering. This collaboration will enable you to conduct system-level evaluations and provide comprehensive assessments of architectural alternatives. A solid background in sensor system modeling, data analysis, and software module development is essential. Furthermore, a deep understanding of sensor physics, systems analysis, and algorithm creation is crucial for success in this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate optical sensing systems to fulfill diverse use cases.
- Conduct simulations to derive system and module-level specifications for cameras, optical depth sensors, and IMU systems.
- Design, develop, and prototype effective analysis algorithms.
- Provide insights on trade-offs among various sensor hardware, software, and algorithms.
- Perform extensive data analysis and establish validation metrics.
- Deliver high-level presentations to stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications:
- PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics, or a Master’s degree with over 5 years of relevant industry experience.
- Proven experience in system architecture development, sensor systems analysis, and modeling.
- Strong foundational knowledge of sensors and the effects of impairments on their performance.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities in hardware and software.
- Proficient in software development using C/C++, Python, and MATLAB.
- Experience in algorithm prototyping and development.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Solid understanding of optical and/or IMU sensors and their signal processing.
- Experience with large-scale data analysis and familiarity with statistical methodologies.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and presentation skills.
Compensation:
- At Apple, the base salary is one component of our comprehensive compensation package, which is determined within a specified range. This role offers the potential for growth as you advance in your career. The base salary range for this position is between $170,700 and $300,200, influenced by your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
