Senior Optical Measurement Engineer - Innovative Optics Solutions

Precision in metrology is essential for engineering excellence. As a Senior Optical Measurement Engineer, you will assist the display and optics divisions by creating and refining testing methodologies, specifications, laboratory apparatus, and software tools. Your focus will be on display and LED components across various consumer electronics during both the design and manufacturing stages.

Key Responsibilities
In this position, you will:

  1. Develop and construct testing configurations to evaluate optical characteristics such as light distribution, Modulation Transfer Function (MTF), contrast ratios, and CIE color space.
  2. Create automated testing frameworks that include instrument management, data collection, analysis, and reporting using MATLAB and other programming languages.
  3. Oversee, maintain, and calibrate optical and electronic testing instruments.
  4. Diagnose hardware, software, and setup challenges in testing equipment, prototypes, and production items utilizing various laboratory testing tools.
  5. Gather and interpret data to generate reports and recommendations for interdisciplinary teams.
  6. Draft specifications and procedural documentation.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in physical sciences, engineering, or a related discipline
- 3+ years of practical experience in optical measurement or a comparable testing and evaluation role
- Proficiency in hands-on testing, troubleshooting, and calibration of optical and electronic devices and instruments
- Familiarity with widely used optical measurement tools such as power meters, interferometers, spectrometers, polarimeters, colorimeters, and scatterometers
- Experience in formulating functional specifications, design validation plans, and functional testing protocols

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master's degree in physical sciences, engineering, or a related discipline
- Experience with at least one standard optical design software like Zemax, Code V, or TracePro
- Expertise in MATLAB, Python, or other prevalent laboratory programming languages
- Knowledge of LED, LCD, OLED, and/or reflective display technologies
- Experience in mass production of consumer electronics and collaboration with contract manufacturers or original design manufacturers
- Familiarity with machine vision techniques and metrics related to inspection and metrology
- Understanding of photometry, color science, and human visual perception
- Proven ability to work, communicate, and collaborate effectively in a cross-functional team setting
- Strong skills in data and statistical analysis
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- A self-driven and autonomous individual, requiring minimal supervision
