ABOUT: Established in 2020, the Polyvagal Institute (PVI) is a non-profit organization founded by Stephen Porges, Ph.D., Deb Dana, Karen Onderko, and Randall Redfield. PVI aims to establish a new framework for health and wellness by offering training, supporting community initiatives, and disseminating research based on the groundbreaking insights of Polyvagal Theory. Since its founding, PVI has emerged as the foremost authority on Polyvagal Theory.

PURPOSE AND ROLE: The ideal candidate for this role will demonstrate exceptional communication abilities that reflect PVI's core values of safety and connection, possess a collaborative spirit suited for teamwork, and have a genuine passion for the organization's mission.

  • Familiarity with Polyvagal Theory and PVI's initiatives is advantageous; a background in trauma-informed mental health or health sciences is beneficial.
  • Action-oriented, flexible, and innovative, with a good sense of humor.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the guidance of the Director of Marketing and Communications, assist in executing a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy to meet both internal and external organizational requirements, including:

Content Creation: Collaborate in developing content (idea generation, graphics, and/or copywriting) for PVI's website, social media platforms, and other communication channels.

Newsletter Production: Work closely with the Director of Marketing and Communications to support the creation and distribution of newsletters and email marketing through platforms like Mailchimp. Assist with additional special projects as required, with expertise in email marketing systems being a plus.

Online Engagement: Enhance PVI's online presence by interacting with followers and other accounts across all social media platforms, including our Community App. Monitor direct messages and comments for any urgent matters that may require special attention.

External Communication Support: Provide assistance in external communications across the team as necessary, ensuring that messaging aligns with PVI's mission and values.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; a bachelor's degree or higher is preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in a virtual, fast-paced environment, both independently and as part of a small team.
  • Proven familiarity with social media platforms and scheduling tools (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube). Knowledge of mass mailing platforms, databases/CRMs, design applications, and website editing tools is essential.
  • Experience with Mailchimp, Mighty Network, HubSpot, Wix, and Canva is a plus.
